* Total silence will make tinitus seem louder – try and mask the tinnitus with white noise.
* Refrain from excessive use of alcohol, caffeine, or aspirin.
* Make sure you wear ear protection when using power tools, chain saws, guns, lawn mowers or loud music.
* Learn how to control stress levels.

Exposure to any loud noises can make tinitus worse and can also cause additional hearing loss.
